About the builder

Jeff Simon lives in Carlsbad, CA, where he is a high school math teacher by day and enjoys woodworking in his spare time. When visiting a Keith Haring exhibit at the MoPOP in Seattle in 2025, he had three simultaneous influences. The first was a quote by Haring that read, "If you accept that there are no coincidences, you use whatever comes along." The second was how Haring had developed unique ways to commercialize his art in order to support his passion, creativity, and self-expression. And the third was that Haring collaborated with other artists - in the case of the MoPOP exhibit, with LA II (Angel Ortiz). That's when it occurred to Jeff that, while he wasn't an artist himself, he may be able to collaborate with local artists to merge his furniture-building skills with their artwork to make what he conceptualized as "tabled art". With much appreciation, the idea was quickly embraced by his artist friend, Joshua Klur, with other local artists kindly following suit. Jeff's tables can now be found at Bliss 101, Pannikin Fly By, and annually at the LeucadiART Walk.
